GEO is table stakes. Agent experience is the next moat
Tracking what chatbots say about you is now a commodity. The advantage moves to what agents can actually do with your product.

Generative engine optimization (GEO), tracking and improving what chatbots say about your brand, is now widely available and increasingly commoditized. The next advantage comes from agent experience: whether agents can actually find, choose, call and pay for your product.
What GEO solved
GEO grew up around a simple question: when someone asks ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity about my category, do I show up, and is the answer right? Tools that track prompts, rankings, citations and share of voice answered it well.
That work still matters. But the category has matured fast: many platforms now offer similar dashboards, and some let you bring your own model keys to run them.
What GEO doesn't cover
GEO measures what a model says. An agent does things. When a user asks an agent to get a price, swap funds or pull a report, the agent:
- searches for a tool that can do the task,
- compares a few options,
- reads the docs and calls one,
- pays, if payment is required,
- and returns a result, or gives up.
A brand can win every GEO report and still lose at step 3, because its quickstart is vague, its MCP server is missing a tool, or an agent can't pay without a human.
Where the moat moves
For API and MCP companies, the defensible advantage shifts to agent experience:
- Being callable, with task-level tools and docs an agent can act on.
- Being comparable, with pricing and limits stated where agents can read them.
- Being payable, with a path an agent can complete on its own.
- Being measurable, with a way to see the journey end to end, because most of it never hits your logs.
Keep your GEO stack
This isn't a call to rip anything out. Keep the GEO platform you use, and run agent simulations alongside it. That's why AINET lets you bring your own GEO data and AI subscription instead of paying twice for the same model calls.
